Workshops offered by Streetlytes
Recent statistics have shown that 80% of the homeless have drug and alcohol issues and we believe that by providing workshops to all concerned will raise the level of awareness, but more importantly, give hope and inspiration to those who are still struggling in this area.
Streetlytes provide workshops on Drug Awareness and presentations of personal life experiences of homelessness, drug addiction and alcoholism to:
- encourage, empower and inspire groups and individuals that are engaged the drug and alcohol sectors and to raise community awareness.
- to educate in and train in the areas of abstinence based recovery, prevention of spreading blood borne viruses and health, safety and hygiene training.
Qualifications: NCFE Level II Certificate in Drug Awareness, City & Guilds level II Certification in Supporting the Development Needs of Homeless and Vulnerable People, Lifeworks Training in Addiction, Spirituality & Relapse, Crack Cocaine and Group Workshop by Janus Solutions, Certificate in Working with Homeless & Vulnerable, Health & Safety Procedures, from Housing Justice:
- Life Stories - is a workshops by provided by our volunteers, which the speaker shares their past drug and alcohol history and how we have recovered from a seemingly hopeless situation, ending with an open question and answer forum.
- Relapse Prevention - is a workshop designed to identify patterns of drug and alcohol use and developing practical strategies in order to manage triggers, craving and hard risk situations
- Abstinence Based Recovery - is a workshop specifically geared for the individual drug user to educate and inform them on techniques and practices that will ultimately encourage and empower the individual towards complete abstinence.
- The Disease of Addiction - is a workshop delineating on the disease of addiction that is characterised by compulsive drug seeking and use, despite harmful consequences.
